Nexstim NBS 6 System in the UAE and GCC

Navigated TMS for non-invasive motor and speech mapping before surgery, supplied and supported by Brainz across the UAE and the GCC.

What it is

Map motor and speech areas before the first incision.

The NBS System 6 from Nexstim in Helsinki is a navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation (nTMS) system. Working on the patient's own MRI, it stimulates the cortex non-invasively and records muscle responses, so the team can localize the motor cortex and assess motor tract integrity for pre-procedural planning.

NBS 6 is modular. The buyer chooses a primary focus, diagnostics or therapy, and adds modules. The diagnostics configuration includes the motor mapping workflow, and an optional speech mapping module localizes cortical speech areas. Nexstim describes NBS 6 as the only FDA cleared and CE marked navigated TMS system for pre-operative mapping of the motor and speech cortices.

Selected responses can be exported in DICOM format to surgical navigation systems such as Brainlab. The mapping is for planning only: Nexstim states the system is not intended for use during surgery, and that intraoperative localization is verified by direct cortical stimulation.

Key capabilities

What NBS 6 brings to the team.

HardwareComplete workstationArm mounted tracking unit, NBS computer, TMS stimulator with cooling unit, EMG amplifier, foot pedal and digitizer pen, with an adjustable patient chair.
Motor mappingIncluded in diagnosticsLocalizes the motor cortex and assesses motor tract integrity. Nexstim states sessions typically take under an hour.
Speech mappingOptional moduleLocalizes cortical speech areas for pre-procedural planning. Nexstim states speech mapping may take 1 to 1.5 hours in total.
ExportDICOM to navigationResponses can be sent to surgical navigation, and motor responses also to DTI fiber tracking and radiosurgery platforms.
TherapyrTMS configurationA therapy module with pre-programmed, editable rTMS protocols. Clearance differs by indication and region, so check status with the team.
SoftwareGuided workflowsStep by step guidance, smart targeting tools, integrated networking, and reporting and research tools.
Where it is used

Neurosurgery, mapped before surgery.

NBS 6 supports neurosurgical teams planning surgery close to motor and speech areas.

Brainz support in the GCC

The system arrives. So do we.

A device is only as good as the team behind it. Ours stays with your surgeons long after delivery.

01
Installation. Set up and handover with the manufacturer, in your theatre.
02
Application training. Hands on training for surgeons, nurses and biomedical engineers.
03
Case support and after sales. Specialists in theatre for cases, and service with the manufacturer.
Questions

NBS 6, answered.

What is the Nexstim NBS 6 System?

NBS 6 is a navigated transcranial magnetic stimulation system from Nexstim. It maps the motor cortex, and with an optional module the cortical speech areas, non-invasively on the patient's MRI for pre-procedural planning.

Is the Nexstim NBS 6 System available in the UAE?

Brainz Medical Technology supplies and supports the Nexstim NBS 6 System in the UAE and across the GCC. Contact the team for availability and registration status in other countries.

Is the mapping invasive?

No. Nexstim describes it as noninvasive mapping of the primary motor cortex, carried out before surgery with the patient seated in an adjustable chair.

How does the map reach the operating room?

Nexstim states that selected responses can be transferred in DICOM format to surgical navigation systems, and motor responses to DTI fiber tracking and radiosurgery platforms.

Can NBS 6 also be used for therapy?

Yes, NBS 6 has a therapy configuration with rTMS protocols. Regulatory status differs by indication and country, so contact the Brainz team for the current position in your market.
